Krispy Kreme Challenge

Brad, my dad, and I took on the Krispy Kreme Challenge this past weekend. The course consists of starting at NC State's belltower, running to the downtown Krispy Kreme, eating a dozen doughnuts, and then running back. We were the "casual runners" which meant we could eat as many or as little doughnuts as we wanted to. If you did the challenge, you had to eat the dozen and make it back in under an hour. We only ate two doughnuts and that was plenty. It was a lot of fun watching everyone dressed up in their costumes. Brad and I finished in 1:00:02 and my dad a few minutes behind us. I think I would like to do it again and maybe even dress up just to say that I did. The jog to Krispy Kreme was easy because it was basically downhill the entire way. The jog back was a lot more difficult being that most of it was uphill. We surprisingly didn't see any puke until after we crossed the finish line! Here are some pictures from the race.

A co-worker of mine who ran in the race said she saw on of these guys puking at the finish line. We saw them walking around before the race started saying the race was going to be "unbearable."

I am really glad we did the race. Although some might think we didn't really do it because we didn't eat all 12 doughnuts, I think we all had a good time (minus the uphill portions of the race....)

Lincoln's first trip to Disney

We had a great time at Disney World this past weekend. Besides running the half marathon, we were able to try new restuarants, spend days at both Epcot and Magic Kingdom, and watch Lincoln experience Disney for the first time. Overall, Lincoln was great on the trip. He traveled so well on the plane and on the bus rides to different places. He never had a meltdown the entire time we were gone. Although he slept on most of the rides that he went on, he was a fan of the Tea Cups and Its a Small World. It was so awesome to see how he interacted with the characters. If any character had a big nose, that is what he reached for the whole time. Brad and I can't wait to take him back but I loved being able to take my son to my favorite place. It was a very cool experience that we will never forget. Here are pictures from the trip.

Disney Half Marathon

Around this time one year ago, I was looking at my favorite Disney website and saw a post about their annual marathon weekend. At the time, I was six months pregnant and was starting to feel fat. Reading the post, I was somehow inspired to run the half marathon. Now I am not a runner..have never thought of myself as a runner. When I told people that I was going to do it, I think they all thought I was a little nuts. In my head, I figured it would be a great way to get the baby weight off and if I was ever going to run a half marathon, it would be fitting that it be at Disney. Well, after months of training, Brad and I finished the 15th annual Disney World Half Marathon this past weekend! Overall, it was a great experience. There were times, like at Mile 10 for example, that it wasn't that much fun but I am so glad that we did it and I am really proud of both of us. My parents were awesome enough to accompany us down to Disney and watch Lincoln while we ran the race! This past weekend marked a lot of firsts. It was my first half marathon (think I want to another one), Link's first time flying, and most importantly, his first trip to Disney. I know that he will never remember being there his first time but that isn't the reason we took him there. Seeing him meet Mickey Mouse for the first time was one of the coolest experiences and I know that I will always remember it. Here are some pictures from the race. More pictures from the trip to follow.

Trista any Ryan from the Bachelorette were at the expo. Ryan ran the half and had a much better time than us!

Lincoln on the bus back from the race in his "in training for the 2035 marathon" tshirt.

Although I was really sore for a day or two, it was all worth it crossing that finish line. Trust me, if I can run a half marathon, you can too! I remember that first mile I ran on the treadmill once I started training was horrible and at that point, I couldn't fathom running 12 more of them. But it can be done...trust me, I know!

Christmas Part 2

Here are pictures from our time spent with the Sears family for Christmas.

The Sears grandchildren jumping at the park that we all played at growing up.

My boys looking classy on Christmas day!

Lincoln and his Paw Paw. There is a picture of myself and my Papa when I was that age taken on the same couch. We couldn't resist re-creating the picture.

The three of us wearing out hats Memie made for us this year.

Below are some pictures of Lincoln and Mackenzie. Although it took a little while for them to warm up to each other, they had a good time together.

Christmas

We have had a great Christmas this year. I was so awesome being with Lincoln on his first Christmas. He was so cute "opening" all his gifts. May I say the boy got hooked up this year with all of the toys he got but it seemed like we could have just given him wrapping paper, string, and boxes and he would have been perfectly content. We literally could not see out the back of my car on our way home. We spent Christmas with my parents and my extended family and had a great time. We especially loved seeing Lincoln and my cousin's daughter Mackenzie interact together. Brad had all of last week off and I think we can both say this has been the most relaxing Christmas we have had together. Here are pictures from our Christmas!

Our traditional Christmas Eve pj's!!

The Bordeaux grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Link opening a gift on Christmas morning.

My dad always wanted to have a train going around our Christmas tree and he saw it as a must have this year for his grandson. Link loved watching it go round and round the tree.

Mom and I showing off our new pajamas.

Link wearing my dad's conductor hat that I got him for Christmas.

My parents got Link a Radio Flyer for Christmas. This thing is tricked out with two seats, seat belts, cup holders, a back pack, and a canopy. Link loves being pulled around in it.

8 Months Old

I apologize for the late post about Lincoln being eight months old. I am fully aware that he is close to being nine months old in two weeks but I did want to post pictures. Link currently has five teeth! It turns out that I gave birth to a vampire baby. Instead of getting the top two teeth like most babies do, my son decided that he was going to have the other two teeth on either side of the top teeth was a much better thing to have. I have no clue if it is nothing more than weird that these are the teeth that decided to pop through but he doesn't seem to mind. Still not interested in crawling yet but you can tell the kid wants to move but just can't figure how to put the pieces together yet. We are really looking forward to Christmas soon. Link is a fan of the lights on the Christmas tree. The lights have even prevented a further meltdown on occasion. He is currently in love with his two brothers as Baxter and Newman grow more tolerable of him. Link constantly looks for the dogs whenever he hears them in a room. Enjoy some recent photos taken!
